We Are THE LIVING LETTERS of CHRIST To The World

ASKS

(2 Corinthians 3:2-3 VOICE- You are our letter, every word burned onto our hearts to be read by everyone. You are The Living Letter of The Anointed One, The Liberating King, nurtured by us and inscribed, not with ink, but with The Spirit of The Living God—a Letter too passionate to be chiseled onto stone tablets, but emblazoned upon the human heart.)

I just love that passage of Scripture.

As believers, our lives are The Living Letters of Christ.

Those few words embody such incredible power.

How often do we think about the fact that every person we encounter can see us, but read Jesus? Meaning, others actually have the ability to see us, but conceptualize Him in us. The Bible says that we were made in The Lord’s image. So, isn’t that exactly what our lives should mirror?

As I was meditating on today’s focal passage I began to think about my own life. The greatest desire on my heart is to make sure that I represent Him well.

Being a Christian means so much more than just assuming the title and attending church on Sundays. When we accept Christ in our hearts as our Lord and Savior, essentially what that means is that we are to carry on His legacy through the power and Presence of His Holy Spirit living on the inside of us.

We are to be His light shining His love, grace, and glory in the darkest of places. We are to be the salt of Christ helping those who don’t know Him to taste and see that He is good. (Matthew 5:13-16 MSG- “Let Me tell you why you are here. You’re here to be salt-seasoning that brings out the God-flavors of this earth. If you lose your saltiness, how will people taste godliness? You’ve lost your usefulness and will end up in the garbage. Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.)

The prayer of my heart for us today is that our lives would truly exemplify The Life of Christ in word and in deed and that we would always be mindful of the fact that our presence in someone’s life could be the deciding factor in whether they come to know the heart of our Savior.

Abba, we come before You this morning incredibly grateful for Your Presence in our lives. We thank You for Your unconditional love for us and we’re so very honored that You trust us to carry on the legacy of Your precious Son, Jesus Christ. Father, help us to realize what a priceless treasure You have entrusted us with by You freely gifting Your Holy and perfect Spirit to us. Lord, give us the wisdom, provision, and strength to walk, live, breath, and stand in the great purpose of this indescribable Gift living on the inside of us. Give us the courage and boldness to be Your salt and light. May our lives spell out the heart of Jesus to everyone around us. Abba, we love You, we praise You, and we give You all of the glory. In the name of Jesus Christ, Your precious Son, and our Lord and Savior— I pray, Amen and so be it.

  1. What beautiful scriptures you have here, Tai. So often we forget that we are Christ’s letter to the world, to our communities, and to our families. I want people to read JESUS when they see me too. Convicting words this morning!

  2. What a beautiful post with such encouraging and challenging truths. I love this Biblical image of us being living letters. This really struck me from the Scriptures you posted: “Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with GOD, this generous FATHER in heaven.” That’s what I’ve been watching unfold, both in myself and others, as we encourage each other through our blogs to trust our Father in heaven, even when our circumstances scream to us not to. The most beautiful gift I’ve received, is others opening themselves up to me and me thereby being given a window into the Mighty Presence of God in their stories of deep brokenness and grief.

    • Thank you so very much, Anna! And you are exactly right. I have met and become friends with so many of our fellow bloggers; people whom I would never had the pleasure of meeting in real life if it weren’t for us all writing. And they have sincerely blessed me beyond measure. It’s amazing how GOD will connect hearts together who aim to please HIM and love HIS people. I look forward to connecting with you and getting to know you better, Love! GOD bless you, Beautiful! 🙂

  4. Hi sweet Tai 🙂 Beautiful thoughts and truth, my friend! Each morning as I drop my boys at school I always say, “I’m so glad God gave me you. Remember He loves you. Represent Him and your family well and remember Whose you are every moment of the day. I love you to the moon and back!” It’s a little wacky, I know, but I want them to set their feet on the ground at school each day remembering Who they belong to so that the enemy doesn’t confuse them! Now that I’m actually writing this, I think my daughter may have enough language and understanding to do this, too! Starting Monday 🙂 Thanks Tai! I’m always blessed by my time here!

  7. Tai I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I’m so happy I linked up right after you on Good Morning Mondays. Your words resonate deep with me, as it’s my desire that other people see Jesus through my actions and words. I always think that for some people, the closest they may come to knowing Christ may be through me so I want Him well represented. Blessings!

  9. I love these verses, and your insight into them. The truth is that others see us and notice what we do! We need to ask ourselves the sobering question… would others be more or less like Christ if they mimicked my behavior and attitudes? Thanks Tai!

    • You are most welcome, Karen! And you are exactly right, Love! Asking that question can be tough sometimes, but it’s needed if we are to represent HIM well and be HIS LOVE LETTER to those around us. Thank you so much for visiting with me today, beautiful friend! GOD bless you! 🙂

  10. This is a succinct and powerful post, Tai. We are called to mirror Christ and I love how you mention that our lives our living love letters. We truly are leaving a legacy everywhere we go, especially in our own households and communities. I believe the way we act and exemplify Christ has the greatest power to either bring someone to Christ or scare them away. Thank you for your insight!

    • Hi, Jaime! Thanks so much for the invite! I would be honored to join you, Love! I won’t be there this coming week. I’m taking a week off from writing due to me slipping and falling; bruising up my back and cracking my tailbone, but I will definitely be there the following week. Thanks again, sweet friend!
