Eyes To See Truth

ASKS

(Song of Songs 1:15 NIV- How beautiful you are, My darling! Oh, how beautiful! Your eyes are doves.)

The Song of Solomon is one of my most favorite books in the Bible. I’ve read it countless times and every single time I read it, Holy Spirit whispers to my heart another little divine nugget of it’s precious truth.

So with today’s focal verse in mind, I’m going to take you on a little journey to reveal just a token of that truth.

As many of you know my heart truly values intimacy with God. Quite often as I’m praying or even just simply soaking in His Presence, He’ll bring a verse or a particular passage of Scripture to mind.

There have been many times where those very passages have come from the Song of Solomon.

Whenever The Lord uses His Word as an avenue to speak to me, I first pray for revelation of that particular verse and then I start to mediate on it’s truth.

This morning as He brought Song of Songs 1:15 to mind, there were also two other passages Scripture that I immediately began to reflect upon as well.

The first one was (Matthew 6:22 AMP – “The eye is the lamp of the body; so if your eye is clear; spiritually perceptive, your whole body will be full of light; benefiting from God’s precepts.”).

And the second one was (Matthew 3:16-17 NIV – As soon as Jesus was baptized, He went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and He saw The Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on Him. And a voice from heaven said, “This is My Son, whom I love; with Him I am well pleased.”).

Two key points to remember from those verses are:
1.) Our eyes are lamps to our bodies. Meaning, not only are they the light for our souls, but also how other people come to see the light within us. And 2.) Biblically speaking, doves are symbolic of The Spirit of God.

Now with those two things in mind, let’s go back and reflect upon the words that Solomon had spoken to his bride-to-be in today’s focal verse.

His words to her were, “How beautiful you are, My darling! Oh, how beautiful! Your eyes are doves.”.

If you’ve read the entire first chapter of the Song of Solomon then you know that just a few verses before that, Solomon’s bride-to-be was conversing with him expressing to him how negatively she viewed herself. She asked him not to look at her out of fear that he would see her the same way she saw herself. She then proceeded to give him specific reasons why she felt so unattractive and unworthy.

At first glance, it seems as if Solomon’s words to her were just to assure her of how beautiful she truly was to him from a physical standpoint.

But what if his words to her had a much deeper connotation than just to express what he saw in her physical appearance?

You see, as I was praying for revelation of what Solomon was saying, Holy Spirit revealed to me a deeper truth. I do in fact believe that his words were an expression of his attraction to her physical beauty, but I also believe that he wanted her to know that her true beauty wasn’t just physical. But that it was in fact when he looked into her eyes— because it was there that he saw and recognized The Spirit of God within her.

To reflect upon those very same words with a more in depth perspective revealing an even deeper level of truth… I also believe that’s how The Father views us.

In those moments when we’ve felt unworthy or less than, God is always there to remind us of the beauty that He sees within us— that radiates from the inside out. He never sees us as unworthy or broken the way we sometimes view ourselves. As His beloved, He connects with us Spirit to spirit. The deep in Him calls out to the deep within us. When He sees us, He recognizes the wholeness that is Him living on the inside of us. He sees us as whole, uniquely gifted, beautifully, fearfully, and wonderfully made just as He created us to be.

So today, I just want to remind you that your worth and value has no limits. You are loved and treasured beyond measure. You are chosen, gifted, and empowered for greatness through The perfect and Holy Spirit of God living on the inside of you. Nothing is impossible for you!

Beloved, your eyes are doves which means you have the capacity to see yourself and the world around you from Abba’s perspective and with His perception. You have the capacity to see and recognize His truth. And today, that is my heart’s greatest prayer for you.

Abba, before we ask You for a single thing, we first say thank You for Who You are in us and for Who You’ve empowered us to become as we abide in You. Today, I simply ask that You would open our eyes that we may see ourselves and the world around us with the same love and beauty as You do. Let Your Holy Spirit awaken our hearts to the promises and purpose that You have chosen and set us apart for. Renew our minds with Your truth that we may rest and trust in Who You’ve called and created us to be. Help us to always recognize our worth in You and Your truth in us. Draw our hearts so closely to Yours that the vision You have for our lives would then become the vision that we in turn would have for ourselves. Lord, we love You and we’re so very grateful for Your Presence. In the name of Jesus Christ, Your precious Son and our Lord and Savior— I pray, Amen and so be it.

We Are THE LIVING LETTERS of CHRIST To The World

ASKS

(2 Corinthians 3:2-3 VOICE- You are our letter, every word burned onto our hearts to be read by everyone. You are The Living Letter of The Anointed One, The Liberating King, nurtured by us and inscribed, not with ink, but with The Spirit of The Living God—a Letter too passionate to be chiseled onto stone tablets, but emblazoned upon the human heart.)

I just love that passage of Scripture.

As believers, our lives are The Living Letters of Christ.

Those few words embody such incredible power.

How often do we think about the fact that every person we encounter can see us, but read Jesus? Meaning, others actually have the ability to see us, but conceptualize Him in us. The Bible says that we were made in The Lord’s image. So, isn’t that exactly what our lives should mirror?

As I was meditating on today’s focal passage I began to think about my own life. The greatest desire on my heart is to make sure that I represent Him well.

Being a Christian means so much more than just assuming the title and attending church on Sundays. When we accept Christ in our hearts as our Lord and Savior, essentially what that means is that we are to carry on His legacy through the power and Presence of His Holy Spirit living on the inside of us.

We are to be His light shining His love, grace, and glory in the darkest of places. We are to be the salt of Christ helping those who don’t know Him to taste and see that He is good. (Matthew 5:13-16 MSG- “Let Me tell you why you are here. You’re here to be salt-seasoning that brings out the God-flavors of this earth. If you lose your saltiness, how will people taste godliness? You’ve lost your usefulness and will end up in the garbage. Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.)

The prayer of my heart for us today is that our lives would truly exemplify The Life of Christ in word and in deed and that we would always be mindful of the fact that our presence in someone’s life could be the deciding factor in whether they come to know the heart of our Savior.

Abba, we come before You this morning incredibly grateful for Your Presence in our lives. We thank You for Your unconditional love for us and we’re so very honored that You trust us to carry on the legacy of Your precious Son, Jesus Christ. Father, help us to realize what a priceless treasure You have entrusted us with by You freely gifting Your Holy and perfect Spirit to us. Lord, give us the wisdom, provision, and strength to walk, live, breath, and stand in the great purpose of this indescribable Gift living on the inside of us. Give us the courage and boldness to be Your salt and light. May our lives spell out the heart of Jesus to everyone around us. Abba, we love You, we praise You, and we give You all of the glory. In the name of Jesus Christ, Your precious Son, and our Lord and Savior— I pray, Amen and so be it.

YOU, LORD, Keep My Lamp Burning

ASKS

(Psalm 18:28-36 NIV- You, Lord, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light. With Your help I can advance against a troop; with my God I can scale a wall. As for God, His way is perfect: The Lord’s Word is flawless; He shields all who take refuge in Him. For who is God besides The Lord? And who is The Rock except our God? It is God Who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure. He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; He causes me to stand on the heights. He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a bow of bronze. You make Your saving help my shield, and Your right hand sustains me; Your help has made me great. You provide a broad path for my feet, so that my ankles do not give way.)

Today’s focal passage was a beautiful reminder for me of all that God brings to my life. I thought about how He truly is perfection; incomparable and all-powerful, yet loving, gracious, and faithful.

The verse above says, “For who is God besides The Lord?”. That truly fueled my spirit this morning because there is no one greater than our God. He loves us to the core of who we are. He knows our hearts from it’s greatest joy to it’s deepest burden and provides the strength we need accordingly.

The other day, I told a friend of mine that I just love when God provides exactly what we need in the exact and very moment that we need it most. So, when I tell you that I am continually amazed by Him, I mean that with all of my heart because what He gives, only He can give. I have learned to trust that He’ll supply all of my needs whether it’s in the exact moment that I feel I need it most or not. I know that He is unwaveringly faithful, His promises endure forever, and HIS timing is flawless.

“You, Lord, keep my lamp burning” … What a powerful and incredibly beautiful truth to allow our hearts to take a hold of. To me that means if I cry out to Him and He doesn’t immediately give me the provision that I seek, His Light will sustain me until He does. (Psalm 119:105 NIV- Your Word is a Lamp for my feet, a Light on my path.) I find that truth absolutely amazing!

Today, I just want you to know that our God is sovereign! Even when you don’t get the instant or immediate response that you seek, know that when He does answer it will be perfection. He Is The Lord and He will keep your lamp burning! You will radiantly shine by His Light!

When You Are Weakest, You Are Strongest

ASKS

(Philippians 4:13 AMP- I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me; I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency.)

When we’re feeling troubled, weak, and torn or let down our first thought or initial assessment is usually not that we’re positioned in a place of eternal strength. In all honesty, our initial response emotionally is usually a sense of brokenness, hopelessness, and despair. But The Word of God says, when we’re at our lowest and weakest point, that’s when we’re able to truly experience the perfection that is His grace; that’s when we’re able too see the strength and glory of Christ come to fruition in it’s greatest form within our lives. (2 Corinthians 12:9-10 NOG- But He told me: “My kindness is all you need. My power is strongest when you are weak.” So I will brag even more about my weaknesses in order that Christ’s power will live in me. Therefore, I accept weakness, mistreatment, hardship, persecution, and difficulties suffered for Christ. It’s clear that when I’m weak, I’m strong.)

I often tell people that they are gems in whom our God treasures, but I think more often than not they take it as just a kind gesture and not as the love and life that I speak it forth in faith over their lives as; not as a promise of truth that is to be sincerely embraced within their hearts. I don’t think they realize or understand that I say it because God has gifted us the treasure of Christ’s Spirit to live within our hearts and we then in turn radiate and glow of the very essence that is His beauty and majesty. (2 Corinthians 4:6-7 NLT- For God, Who said, “Let there be light in the darkness,” has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ. We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves.)

Though Jesus endured brutal suffering, He overcame and conquered it all, even death itself. And He loves and values us so much that He chose to instill that same power within us by sending us His perfect Holy Spirit. My point is, there is nothing that shall come against us in this world that we don’t hold the power to conquer. God so treasures us that He allows us embody very the light, love, and life of Jesus within us ensuring that nothing will be too difficult for us to bear or too hard for us to endure and that we will always overcome victoriously through The Spirit of our Savior! (2 Corinthians 4:8-9 NLT- We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair. We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed.)

Today, I pray over you and encourage you with my whole heart to take ahold of the truth of this great promise from our Heavenly Father: When you are at your weakest, you are at your strongest because The Spirit of Christ living on the inside of you will eternally be your strength!

Trade Your Ashes For HIS Crown

ASKS

(Isaiah 61:3 NIV- Bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of The Lord for the display of His splendor.)

One of my favorite songs to listen to as I’m praying in the mornings is a song called “Glorious Ruins” by Hillsong. More so than music itself, I am a lover of lyrics. I listen to every single word of a song. And so as I’m praying, I like to listen to songs that will relay the worship and the cry of my heart to the heart of God because sometimes I’m in such awe of Him and so amazed that I have the honor and privilege of being in His Presence that I simply can’t find the words to speak forth on my own. If you’ve followed my blog then you know that I am a crier and my deepest and most intimate form of worship is displayed through my tears.

This morning as “Glorious Ruins” began to play and I began to sing, I felt those words truly take root it my spirit. I was filled with The Presence of The Lord and I just wept. Part of the song says: “When the mountains fall and the tempest roar You are with me. When creation folds still my soul will soar on Your mercy. I’ll walk through the fire with my head lifted high and my spirit revived in Your story. And I’ll look to the cross as my failure is lost in the light of Your glorious grace. Let the ruins come to Life in the beauty of Your name. Rising up from the ashes God forever You reign. And my soul will find refuge in the shadow of Your wings. I will love You forever and forever I’ll sing”.

Those words truly translate my gratitude for all that God is and has brought to my life. They reminded me that at the cross our failure is lost and replaced with the honor and privilege to stand, walk, live, and breathe in His incredible purpose for our lives. They reminded me of the truth that lies within today’s focal passage and the beauty that it relays from God’s heart to ours. We get to trade in our ashes to behold the beauty of His crown!

God wants to take all of the ruin, ash, and despair that burdens us and replace it with His crown of beauty, His oil of joy, and His garment of praise. He created us in His glorious image. His splendor rests upon and within us and we should never be ashamed or afraid to embrace that and look, live, and love as such. Through Jesus our ruins radiantly come to Life in such magnificent form. Where we see ruins within ourselves, God sees treasure because He knows the beauty that He created within us.

So today, I want to encourage you to not focus on your ruins, but to focus on Jesus and allow Him to show you the beauty and Life that lies within you through His Holy Spirit. Today, I want you to make the choice to trade your ashes for His crown! Live in the light, love, and Life that He provides! He’s worth it and so are you! (John 8:12 NLT- Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I Am The Light of the world. If you follow Me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have The Light that leads to Life.”)

Which Will You Rely On Most, Your Feelings Or GOD?

ASKS

(Exodus 4:10-12 NLT- Moses pleaded with The Lord, “O Lord, I’m not very good with words. I never have been, and I’m not now, even though You have spoken to me. I get tongue-tied, and my words get tangled.”. Then The Lord asked Moses, “Who makes a person’s mouth? Who decides whether people speak or do not speak, hear or do not hear, see or do not see? Is it not I, The Lord? Now go! I will be with you as you speak, and I will instruct you in what to say.”)

Today’s focal passage reminded me that whether we feel we’re able to do or accomplish something or not, if God says, “Go!” then we must trust Him and do so knowing that He will never send us on a journey where we’ll have to travel alone. He will always be with us illuminating our way.

I think many of us, like Moses have had times or been in situations where we’ve simply felt inadequate. The truth is sometimes our feelings will lead us astray. The enemy is very strategic. His plan of attack will always be where we’re most vulnerable and for most of us the perception that we have of ourselves and how we “feel” will always come into play. It’s vital that we know our worth and that we never let anyone or anything rob us of how valuable we are.

I just want to encourage you guys to trust God’s provision no matter how you feel. His voice will always guide you to greatness! Believe that He has equipped and gifted you with everything that you need to conqueror what ever it is that He’s calling you to do. Embrace your purpose because you are fearfully and wonderfully made. Own your gifts and illuminate those dreams that you’ve kept hidden in your heart. And know that whenever you feel inapt, that can actually be a good thing because it puts you in a position to seek God for help. You are mighty in The Lord!

(Jeremiah 17:7-8 NIV- Blessed is the one who trusts in The Lord, whose confidence is in Him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.)

Your value is infinite and you truly can do all things! Christ will always be your strength!

Your Desperation Has The Power To Lead To Your Destiny

ASKS

(1 Corinthians 2:9-12 VOICE- But as The Scriptures say, No eye has ever seen and no ear has ever heard and it has never occurred to the human heart all the things God prepared for those who love Him. God has shown us these profound and startling realities through His Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep mysteries of God. Who can see into a man’s heart and know his thoughts? Only the spirit that dwells within the man. In the same way, the thoughts of God are known only by His Spirit. You must know that we have not received the spirit of this rebellious and broken world but The Spirit that comes from God, so that we may experience and comprehend the gifts that come from God.)

Along my journey with God, there have been countless times when I simply trusted Him to move in my life. I didn’t worry if He would answer my prayers or not because the moment that I chose to enter into His Presence, it was already established in my heart, confirmed in my mind, and settled in my spirit that He undoubtedly would. However, in my humanness, there have also been countless times when I entered into His Presence lost and broken wondering if He could hear my voice and the deepest cries of my heart.

There’s a saying that goes, “If you’re going to worry then don’t pray and if you’re going to pray then don’t worry.” and I get the gist of that, but I can’t say that I necessarily agree with it. Being human we will all inevitably have times in our lives where worry will try to defeat us and that’s when we should draw nearest to God and pray to Him with all that we are. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 VOICE- Celebrate always, pray constantly, and give thanks to God no matter what circumstances you find yourself in. This is God’s Will for all of you in Jesus The Anointed.)

I believe with my whole heart and soul that every word that God has promised to us is pure, perfect, authentic, and true. I believe that every single word that He speaks forth will fulfill His intended purpose just as He said. (Isaiah 55:11 NIV- My Word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to Me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent It.)

In believing all of that and knowing it to be true, in my relationship with God more often than not, it wasn’t the times that I entered His Presence boldly and with confidence that I had the privilege, benefit, and pleasure of experiencing all that He is and desires to be in my life, but instead the times when I humbly entered His Presence broken and desperate, not knowing which way to turn that He revealed Himself to me in the most beautiful and prolific ways. Those have been the moments that allowed me to feel His Presence and experience Him the greatest. Those have been the moments when He allowed me to hear His voice with incredible clarity. When I came before Him worried and fearful are the precise moments that He has whispered to my heart, I Am with you always. Never will I leave nor forsake you.”. In my deepest and most intricate moments of desperation are the moments that led to true, sincere, intrinsic intimacy with God.

Today’s focal passage says, “No eye has ever seen and no ear has ever heard and it has never occurred to the human heart all the things God prepared for those who love Him. God has shown us these profound and startling realities through His Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep mysteries of God. Who can see into a man’s heart and know his thoughts? Only the spirit that dwells within the man. In the same way, the thoughts of God are known only by His Spirit. You must know that we have not received the spirit of this rebellious and broken world but The Spirit that comes from God, so that we may experience and comprehend the gifts that come from God.”, meaning all we have to do is love God and allow His Spirit to fulfill It’s purpose within us.

I said all of that to say this… Seek God with all that you are no matter the circumstance or situation. Become vulnerable and transparent with Him because you can trust that He always has your best interest at heart and knows what’s best for your life. And never allow fear, worry, or doubt to keep you from entering into His Presence because in The Presence of The Lord your greatest and deepest moment of desperation can be transformed into the Life-giving, purpose-filled destiny that He has planned for your life. (Psalm 36:7-9 GNT- How precious, O God, is Your constant love! We find protection under the shadow of Your wings. We feast on the abundant food You provide; You let us drink from the river of Your goodness. You are the source of all life, and because of Your light we see The Light.)

Not Scattered, But Planted To SHINE!

ASKS

(Mark 4:15-20 MSG- “Some people are like the seed that falls on the hardened soil of the road. No sooner do they hear The Word than satan snatches away what has been planted in them. And some are like the seed that lands in the gravel. When they first hear The Word, they respond with great enthusiasm. But there is such shallow soil of character that when the emotions wear off and some difficulty arrives, there is nothing to show for It. The seed cast in the weeds represents the ones who hear the kingdom news but are overwhelmed with worries about all the things they have to do and all the things they want to get. The stress strangles what they heard, and nothing comes of It. But the seed planted in the good earth represents those who hear The Word, embrace It, and produce a harvest beyond their wildest dreams.”.)

The NIV version uses the word sown to describe where the seed of The Word is planted for growth, so if you were to sit and reflect, where would the seed of The Word be sown in your life? The Bible says that Jesus Is The Word. (John 1:1-16 NIV- In the beginning was The Word, and The Word was with God, and The Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through Him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made. In Him was Life, and that Life was The Light of all mankind. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome It. There was a man sent from God whose name was John. He came as a witness to testify concerning that Light, so that through him all might believe. He himself was not The Light; he came only as a witness to The Light. The True Light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. He was in the world, and though the world was made through Him, the world did not recognize Him. He came to that which was His own, but His own did not receive Him. Yet to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God— children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God. The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of The One and only Son, Who came from The Father, full of grace and Truth. John testified concerning Him. He cried out, saying, “This is The One I spoke about when I said, ‘He Who comes after me has surpassed me because He was before me.’”. Out of His fullness we have all received grace in place of grace already given.)

As I thought about today’s focal verses, I started to think about what Jesus truly means to me. I started contemplating the sovereignty and value He holds in my life. By definition the word sown means: to scatter (seed) over land or earth for growth. For some reason I focused in on the word scatter. The word scatter means: to cause to separate widely, to cause to vanish, to fling away heedlessly, squander, or to distribute irregularly. To me the word scatter in reference to the value of The Word in my heart and in my life seemed like an oxymoron because I don’t want anything that pertains to Jesus to be scattered in my life, but instead, securely planted on good earth and carefully nurtured every single day so that the seed of His Will and purpose for my life will grow, blossom, thrive, and prosper into everything that He has created and called me be. I want The Word to be firmly entrenched and established in my heart incapable of being excavated or uprooted.

I desperately want to live out God’s purpose for my life because I truly want people to know Him, and not just know Him, but to experience Him and the Life-giving beauty that His Presence brings to our lives. I want you to simply believe, and not because I said God is real but because you were able to discern, witness, and behold His power at work in your life for yourself. The beat of our hearts give life to our bodies. So today, my prayer for you is that The Word would not be scattered in your life, but that It would be carefully, firmly, and securely planted within the good soil of your heart so that It may lavishly supply Jesus into to every ounce of your being and that His Life would radiantly shine in every aspect of your life. (Matthew 5:14-16 MSG- “Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be Light, bringing out the God-colors in the world.

I love you guys!
