The Holy Spirit Within Us

“I Am The Sprouting Vine and you’re My branches. As you live in union with Me as your source, fruitfulness will stream from within you—but when you live separated from Me you are powerless.” (John 15:5 TPT)

As I was reading John chapter 15, verse 5 really captured my attention.

It is in us living in union with Jesus that allows us to bear fruit in our lives that will last and remain. I love the Passion Translation’s expression of what Jesus is saying to us in verse 5 because it takes us much deeper into the words and heart of Jesus.

Jesus said that as we live in union with Him as our source, fruitfulness will stream from within us.

The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines the word “stream” as a body of running water such as a river or a creek, a steady succession, a constantly renewed or steady supply, a continuous moving procession, or an unbroken flow.

In Scripture, we see Jesus refer to Himself as Living Water.

“But if anyone drinks The Living Water I give them, they will never be thirsty again. For when you drink the water I give you, it becomes a gushing fountain of The Holy Spirit, flooding you with endless life!” (John 4:14 TPT)

“Believe in Me so that rivers of living water will burst out from within you, flowing from your innermost being, just like the Scripture says!” (John 7:38 TPT)

In that verse, He was also referring to the Holy Spirit.

I share all of that with you to say this… For us as believers, staying connected to the Vine that is Jesus, and allowing Him to be our source, is to drink of the Living Water that is the Holy Spirit. It is the Holy Spirit dwelling on the inside of us that produces and brings to fruition that stream, that body of living water, that steady concession, that constantly renewed and steady supply, that continuous moving procession, that unbroken flow of fruitfulness within us that will overflow into the world around us.

“Those in whom the Spirit comes to live are God’s new Temple. They are, individually and corporately, places where heaven and earth meet.” ― N.T. Wright

Creating Something Beautiful Out Of What Seems Insignificant

Still, Eternal One, You are our Father. We are just clay, and You are The Potter. We are the product of Your creative action, shaped and formed into something of worth. (Isaiah 64:8 VOICE)

At the beginning of the year, I ordered some jewelry making supplies and tools and the company sent me all of these key rings and different colored coil keychain bracelets as a free gift. I had no idea what I was going to do with them.

Then, I remembered that I had a bunch of small cross-shaped vials and so I took one of the crosses and inside of it I put a grain of rice that I wrote the word “faith” on, a mustard seed to represent Matthew 17:20, and then I put 14, round, 1mm, genuine gemstones inside to represent the birthstones of my family/the people that I love and pray for daily.

I’ve been wearing this bracelet all year and I never really take it off because all throughout the day, every time I see it on my wrist, it reminds me to pray for the people that I love and really have the faith to see the fullness of God’s promise come to fruition in their lives.

(He told them, It was because of your lack of faith. I promise you, if you have faith inside of you no bigger than the size of a small mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move away from here and go over there,’ and you will see it move! There is nothing you couldn’t do!”(Matthew 17:20 TPT)

I leave you guys with this, those key rings and keychain bracelets seemed so insignificant when I first got them, but I took them and made something beautiful/meaningful to me with them. I feel like that’s exactly what God does with us. We give Him our lives and He makes something incredibly beautiful, purposeful, meaningful, and promise-filled out of them!

Molded To Perfection In HIS Hands

Dear Hearts, I welcome you all to week 8 of the “Fridays Are For Faith ‘n Friends” blog hop! I’m honored to have you guys join me again today and I pray that you’ll join me here every Friday for prayer, love, and encouragement. As I explained in week 1, I may not be writing a message every Friday, but I will have a focal passage of Scripture in which I will be meditating on as I write a prayer to encourage your hearts. I will also be available to pray with or for you throughout the day and you can contact me for prayer anytime by clicking here. Also, each week I will share with you my favorite post from the previous week’s link-up.  … So, link-up, be encouraged, and spread the love!

(Jeremiah 18:4-6 NIV- But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him. Then The Word of The Lord came to me.  He said, “Can I not do with you, Israel, as this potter does?” declares The Lord. “Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in My hand, Israel.”)

The Father is The Master Potter and we are His clay. If only we would fully entrust our lives into His hands— He would mold us to perfection.

This morning as I was mulling over today’s focal passage, I just wanted to remind you guys that you are the flawless masterpiece and workmanship of The Father’s heart and hands. (Song of Songs 4:7 NIV- You are altogether beautiful, My darling; there is no flaw in you.)

Abba, I humbly yet boldly enter Your Holy Presence this morning with an incredibly grateful heart. Simply thankful for the beautiful truth that we are the preeminent creation of Your heart and hands. Father, I ask that you would help us to continuously surrender our hearts to Your heart daily that You may freely mold us to perfection. Your Word says that we are Your workmanship: Your own master work, a work of art, created in Christ Jesus, reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, ready to be used for good works, which You prepared for us beforehand, taking paths which You’ve set, so that we would walk in them living the good life which You’ve prearranged and made ready for us. Lord, today, I ask and pray that you would help us to know, understand, and embrace our worth in You. Abba, we love You and we praise Your glorious name. In the name of Jesus Christ, Your precious Son, and our Lord and Savior— I pray, Amen and so be it.

Happy Friday! I love you guys!

The Power Held Within Our Written Words

(Habakkuk 2:2 CEV- Then The Lord told me: “I will give you My message in the form of a vision. Write it clearly enough to be read at a glance.)

As a Writer, today’s focal verse is very dear to me and I truly take it to heart. I believe that just as the power of Life or death lie within the words we speak, that same power is held within the words we write. (Proverbs 18:21 NCV- What you say can mean Life or death. Those who speak with care will be rewarded.)

I journal my prayers every morning and I’ve been doing it for a very long time because there is a sense of freedom for me in knowing that God not only knows the desires of my heart, but that He sees them as well. To me being able to converse with Him through writing is symbolic of that fact that what I’ve written; my dreams, my hopes, my gifts, my goals, my concerns, my worries, my fears are ever before His Holy Presence and I can trust Him to divinely intervene and take care of all of the things that are near and dear to my heart.

Just to show you how awesome God is, yesterday, I attended a women’s conference at my friend Ellie’s church and in the particular group that I was in, the very first session we had was a class where we were journaling our prayers and Habakkuk 2:2 was the focal point of Scripture. My heart just smiled because even before she told us to start journaling, internally God had already given me a vision and my pen was on fire the entire class. I was still writing even as the class was ending.

God values writing. The Bible being a Life-giving token of that truth. … He told us in Habakkuk 2:2 that He would give us His message in the form of a vision and for us to write it down, but I also want to bring to your remembrance that writing was so important to Him that He took the time to write down His vision for us as well. (Exodus 31:18 NLT- When The Lord finished speaking with Moses on Mount Sinai, He gave Him the two stone tablets inscribed with the terms of the covenant, written by the finger of God.)

I believe the reason God said for us to write down the vision He gives us is because there is Life in being able to not just envision, but physically see our dreams and all of the incredible things that He has ordained for our lives right there in front of us. Seeing gives us hope and hope radiantly shines light on the purpose for the very beat of our hearts. Meaning what we see has the power to shed light and bring Life to who we truly are and the things we live for. (Matthew 6:22-23 VOICE- The eye is the lamp of the body. You draw light into your body through your eyes, and light shines out to the world through your eyes. So if your eye is well and shows you what is true, then your whole body will be filled with light. But if your eye is clouded or evil, then your body will be filled with evil and dark clouds. And the darkness that takes over the body of a child of God who has gone astray—that is the deepest, darkest darkness there is.)

I really want to encourage you guys to start journaling your prayers because yes, God values writing, but He values that intimate time with you even more. And it takes us a lot longer to write our prayers down than it does to simply speak them forth. So, just think, the more you write the more time you get to draw near to His heart and simply rest in The Presence of our Savior.

There’s one other thing that I’d like to share with you guys about yesterday’s conference. In all honesty, the entire day was amazing. I loved every minute of it, but this in particular brought great joy to soul.

As we were all gathered together eating lunch, they had a table set up and filled with all of these beautiful gifts that they were giving away. The table had everything; jewelry, scented lotions and soaps, just all of the things that women love. So, if your name was chosen, you got to go up to the table to a choose whatever gift you wanted. Well, because God loves me like that 😉 , my name was chosen and I got to pick out a gift. And out of all of the lovely things laying there before me, my heart was drawn to this beautiful empty box.

Love Box

As soon as I saw it, I knew exactly what it’s purpose would be. The box was beautiful on the outside, but empty on the inside. That box represents each and every one of us before we surrender our lives to God and allow Him to fill us with His Presence, power, love, hope, peace, joy, and all of the greatness that is the essence and epitome of Who He is.

Just as God fills us with the beauty that is Him. I’m going to write down the desires of my heart and fill this box with my prayers and the beauty that is my dreams. I’m going to pray over it every single day and as God answers, I’ll open the box to remove the answered prayers and continue to seek Him for the unanswered ones. This box will hold not only my dreams, but every vision that God has planted in or spoken to my heart. And I will be faithfully seeking after Him until everything that He has promised me comes to fruition in my life. (Luke 1:45 NIV- Blessed is she who has believed that The Lord would fulfill His promises to her!)

If you are family, a friend, a loved one, someone I’ve prayed with, or someone that has reached out to me for prayer, I will put your name in my prayer box, because I love you and I want you to experience the goodness that is our God. (Deuteronomy 1:11 CEV- God has even promised to bless us a thousand times more, and I pray that He will.)

I want to encourage and challenge you to not only write down your prayers to lay before The Lord, but to use that intimate time with Him to truly revel and bask in His Presence. Prayer may not always change your circumstances, but it will change you. And I promise you that any change made in your life through intimacy with God, you will not regret because it doesn’t just change you for the better, but for His best.

Abba, I deeply seek You this morning on behalf of every person reading this and I ask and pray that You would instill within their hearts how much You value them and love every moment that they spend in Your Presence. Father, give them Your message in the form of a vision that they may write it clearly to be read at a glance and understand in their hearts the beauty of Your intended purpose. Lord, as their eyes set sight on that purpose, fill them with everlasting hope as You work in and through them in order to bring that vision and purpose to fruition in their lives. Lord, draw near to them. Holy Spirit, consume them. Lord, today and everyday, I pray that Your love, grace, peace, and strength would amply abound within their hearts and within their lives. In the name of Jesus Christ, Your precious Son, and our Lord and Savior— I pray, Amen and so be it.

(Matthew 4:4 NIV- Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every Word that comes from the mouth of God.’”)

Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every Word that comes from the mouth of God. … Those were the very words that completely changed my life spiritually. As believers, I think we’ve all had moments or experiences that really solidified in our hearts “Ok, this whole God thing is for real”. I’ve had several things that have happened in my life where I knew that it was only God, but my very first “spiritual aha moment” happened about 5 years ago when I read Matthew 4:4.

I had been attending church my whole life, but it wasn’t until I read that particular verse for myself that I realized that it was The Word that was the missing piece to my puzzle of life. And it was The Word that would complete me and make me whole. Reading that one verse led to me reading The Bible in It’s entirety and from there my whole life changed because that’s where I found true intimacy with God. My heart longed for greater because I belonged to The Greatest. (1 Corinthians 3:23 NLT- You belong to Christ, and Christ belongs to God.)

So, what was Jesus really saying when He said, “Man can not live on bread alone.”?

Here’s what I believe. We merely exist without the consumption of The Word of God. And so, to truly live and thrive in all that He’s purposed us to be one must feast on His Word daily. Meaning just as our bodies long for food to function and operate at their best, our spirits hunger and long for the peace, strength, and Life that is God’s Word. (Luke 6:47-48 MSG- These words I speak to you are not mere additions to your life, homeowner improvements to your standard of living. They are foundation words, words to build a life on. If you work the words into your life, you are like a smart carpenter who dug deep and laid the foundation of his house on bedrock. When the river burst its banks and crashed against the house, nothing could shake it; it was built to last.)

I don’t know about you, but I’m completely in love with the phenomenal thought and beautiful truth that through God’s Word— I am built to last. And I pray that you would never lose sight of the fact that through His Word— you too are built to last. … Take a moment to truly allow your spirit to imbibe that truth. Everything we need is found in The Word. Christ is The Word and the more we consume It the more He becomes alive in us.

So today, I just want to remind you that there is Life within His Word and It has the power to love, calm, comfort, strengthen, encourage, inspire, empower, heal, renew, transform, and restore. The greatest gift that we can give to ourselves is to make the choice to partake of The Word and cling to The Life that lies within IT. (Psalm 119:114 MSG- You’re my place of quiet retreat; I wait for Your Word to renew me.)

Abba, today and everyday, increase the hunger of our hearts to seek and embrace the wisdom and truth that lies within Your Word. Give us a greater understanding of the value that It holds in and through our lives. Lord, help us to surrender to the freedom that is found in seeking You and obeying Your Word and Father, in seeking You may we find ourselves and all that You’ve purposed us to be. I pray that we would hide Your Word in our hearts that we would never sin against You. Abba, may our lives always be a reflection of Your Life within us. In the name of Jesus Christ, Your precious Son, and our Lord and Savior— I pray, Amen and so be it.

HOLY SPIRIT, Scatter Within Me THY Cheerful Beams

(John 14:12 NOG- “I can guarantee this truth: Those who believe in Me will do the things that I am doing. They will do even greater things because I Am going to The Father.”)

Today’s focal verse is one of my favorite verses because it reminds me of this incredibly powerful truth— the very moment that Jesus gave His Life and sent His Holy Spirit was the very moment that solidified God’s purpose for my life.

Christ choosing the cross for my salvation will never be in vain because in Him saving my life, I realize, understand, and appreciate that the greatest of who I am is visual only because His Spirit is alive in me.

To me, Jesus saying that for those of us who believe in Him, we will not only do the work that He has done, but that we will do even greater means that He possessed this phenomenal faith in us that He knew was so much greater than we would ever have the ability or capacity to conceptualize and see within ourselves.

Jesus knew that our faith in Him and in ourselves would sometimes waver. He knew that there would be times when on our own, we would simply fall short. He knew that times would arrive in our lives when we would need to be reminded of The Greater that lives within us. (John 14:25-26 MSG- I’m telling you these things while I’m still living with you. The Friend, The Holy Spirit Whom The Father will send at My request, will make everything plain to you. He will remind you of all the things I have told you.)

It is by us living and walking in the power, ability, provision, and authority of His Holy Spirit that allows us to blossom and thrive in the greater that He has gifted to us.

So today, I just want to remind you that you possess the power and Spirit of The Living God on the inside you. There is nothing that you can’t do because our God makes all things possible. Remember that before you were even born The Lord set you apart because He had a holy and perfect purpose for your life. Let nothing and no one rob you of that truth. (1 John 4:4 MSG- You come from God and belong to God. You have already won a big victory over those false teachers, for The Spirit in you is far stronger than anything in the world.)

Dear Heavenly Father, today and everyday forth, let Your Holy Spirit remind us of and guide us to our greater in You. Lord, help us to understand and embrace the perfect plan that you have purposed for our lives. Allow our hearts to always be cognizant of the beauty and value of the desires that you planted within us. Father, as we live our lives for You, help us to realize that the dreams that seem impossible for us to achieve on our own are the very dreams that are made possible with Your help and by Your power. Lord, in us knowing that, please give us the heart to seek You first and always. In the name of Jesus Christ, Your precious Son, and our Lord and Savior— I pray, Amen and so be it.

Thriving Is Simply Realizing Your Worth

(Job 33:4 NIV- The Spirit of God has made me; the breath of The Almighty gives me Life.)

This morning, I sat here pondering and treasuring the thought of God breathing His Life into our beings. The wonders of The Lord are so complex to me. I’m often astounded when I truly reflect upon His power and position as our Heavenly Father and as The One True Creator of all things, and how out of all of those things we are His most prized possession. He chose to truly hold us near and dear to His heart. He chose to love, to protect, and to nurture us as His very own. (Job 10:12 MSG- You gave me life itself, and incredible love. You watched and guarded every breath I took.)

I find it so amazing that The God we serve not only breathes His Life into us, but that He loves and cherishes us so much that He then protects that precious investment; that indescribable gift that He instilled within us by standing guard and watching over every single breath that we take. To me that shows how deeply valuable we are to Him.

Life is truly this transcendent unparalleled gift given to us through the breath and by the hands of The Lord. He shapes and molds us into this beautiful creation; something to be sincerely treasured— something of the greatest worth. (Isaiah 64:8 VOICE- Eternal One, You are our Father. We are just clay, and You are The Potter. We are the product of Your creative action, shaped and formed into something of worth.) What a wonderful thought and mesmeric truth to behold!

If you find yourself feeling discouraged or contemplating your value, be reminded that God says: He made you and you are fearfully and wonderfully made. You are greatest among all life and creation on this earth. And He chose to protect His gift of Life within you because He set you a part to carry on His greatness.

Today, I pray that you allow your heart to embrace all that God has created and called you to be. I pray that you understand that He chose to form you into something of worth because He valued His purpose for your life. But my greatest prayer today is that you would come to value His purpose for your life.

I want you to have the joy of experiencing and the pleasure of being exposed to your greatness in Him because in you seeing and understanding your true worth, no one and nothing can stop you from thriving and receiving all of the great and glorious things that God has planned and predestined for your life.

I love you guys!

Which Will You Rely On Most, Your Feelings Or GOD?

(Exodus 4:10-12 NLT- Moses pleaded with The Lord, “O Lord, I’m not very good with words. I never have been, and I’m not now, even though You have spoken to me. I get tongue-tied, and my words get tangled.”. Then The Lord asked Moses, “Who makes a person’s mouth? Who decides whether people speak or do not speak, hear or do not hear, see or do not see? Is it not I, The Lord? Now go! I will be with you as you speak, and I will instruct you in what to say.”)

Today’s focal passage reminded me that whether we feel we’re able to do or accomplish something or not, if God says, “Go!” then we must trust Him and do so knowing that He will never send us on a journey where we’ll have to travel alone. He will always be with us illuminating our way.

I think many of us, like Moses have had times or been in situations where we’ve simply felt inadequate. The truth is sometimes our feelings will lead us astray. The enemy is very strategic. His plan of attack will always be where we’re most vulnerable and for most of us the perception that we have of ourselves and how we “feel” will always come into play. It’s vital that we know our worth and that we never let anyone or anything rob us of how valuable we are.

I just want to encourage you guys to trust God’s provision no matter how you feel. His voice will always guide you to greatness! Believe that He has equipped and gifted you with everything that you need to conqueror what ever it is that He’s calling you to do. Embrace your purpose because you are fearfully and wonderfully made. Own your gifts and illuminate those dreams that you’ve kept hidden in your heart. And know that whenever you feel inapt, that can actually be a good thing because it puts you in a position to seek God for help. You are mighty in The Lord!

(Jeremiah 17:7-8 NIV- Blessed is the one who trusts in The Lord, whose confidence is in Him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.)

Your value is infinite and you truly can do all things! Christ will always be your strength!

Set The World On Fire With Purpose

(Isaiah 14:24 NIV- The Lord Almighty has sworn, “Surely, as I have planned, so it will be, and as I have purposed, so it will happen.)

When I read today’s focal verse I felt this indescribable joy begin to arise within my heart and I smiled because I was reminded that the purpose that God has for my life will stand firm and unwavered no matter what. It reminded me that what He has promised me shall be. I find it amazing that God has this empyreal purpose that He planned just for me and each day He whispers the truth of His promises to my heart making me more cognizant of who He is in my life and the greatness that He expects of me. He nurtures my dreams and the desires of my heart with His living water allowing them to blossom right before my eyes.

There is no one greater than our God. Everyday that He allows us to wake up is a day that we get the chance to choose to draw nearer to Him and live that day greater than the previous through His Presence. Every breath that we take has great purpose because every second that we’re alive is a sign from God that He treasures the purpose that He designed and created us to carry out.

If you’ve ever wondered why you’re still here, know that it’s because of the incredible plan that God predestined for your life. (Jeremiah 1:5 MSG- Before I shaped you in the womb, I knew all about you. Before you saw the light of day, I had holy plans for you.) Take a moment to conceptualize what that truly means. … God chose us, loved us, treasured us, and decided that He was going to bless us before He even gave us life. If you can’t think of anything else to praise Him for, praise Him for that alone because He’s worthy!

My purpose for today’s post is to remind you guys that you are loved, you are valuable, you are beautiful inside and out, and your purpose is vitally needed and exceptionally great! Embrace all that He has created and called you to be! Believe that you are all that God says you are! And trust that all that He has promised you is yours to keep because His promises and His purpose endure forever!

“Be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire.”~ St. Catherine of Siena

I love you guys!
