This One Thing I Ask, This Only Do I Seek…

(Psalm 27:4-6 TPT – “Here’s the one thing I crave from God, the one thing I seek above all else: I want the privilege of living with Him every moment in His house, finding the sweet loveliness of His face; filled with awe, delighting in His glory and grace. I want to live my life so close to Him that He takes pleasure in my every prayer. In His shelter in the day of trouble, that’s where you’ll find me, for He hides me there in His holiness. He has smuggled me into His secret place where I’m kept safe and secure.”)

Each morning as I sit with The Lord and just bask in His Presence, I find that I am continuously enamored by His love and His goodness. I’m always amazed by how sweetly Papa God lures me into His Presence as I worship Him and how tenderly He speaks to my heart as I just lie at His feet.

Verse four of the NIV of today’s focal verses say, “One thing I ask from The Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of The Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of The Lord and to seek Him in His temple.”

This morning I had a moment with The Lord where I was just soaking in His Presence. As I was lying before Him, I closed my eyes, turned all of my affection towards Him, and simply waited for the sweetness of His voice. In doing that, I saw what appeared to be a candle lit chamber. It almost reminded me of a place where you would have an intimate dinner with someone, yet there were no actual candles only flickers and reflections of light. In this place, there was nothing but space; no walls, no ceiling, and no floor. And this is what Abba spoke to my heart, “Here, on the inside of you, is where I’ll meet you. This is the most intimate secret place there is. This is where you’ll experience and encounter the deepest depths of My love for you. For here, in this place, it will always be just Me and just you. This is where you’ll hear My voice. This is where the deep in Me will call out to the deep in you. This is our place of Spirit to spirit. This is where I will reveal to you wisdom, revelation, and the secret treasures of heaven. This is where you will sit with Me and you and I will dream, make plans, and beautifully create together. This is the place where My living water will gather and flow from within you. For it is this place, that the power of My Presence is ignited within you. Beloved, it is here, in this place, that you will be empowered to do the impossible. This is your place of rest, but it is also your source of power. For it is here, that I will renew your strength for you to soar like the eagles. And it is here, in this place, that when you seek Me, you will always find Me waiting to be with you every minute and every second of each day.”

If our bodies are temples that belong to The Lord— a place where His Holy Spirit dwells (1 Corinthians 6:19 VOICE)—  where His kingdom lies within us (Luke 17:20-22 AMPC), then I would like to propose to you that perhaps when Papa says you’ll seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all of your heart (Jeremiah 29:11-13 AMP), it could simply mean that the deepest and most intimate place that you can find His Presence is actually within yourself. Perhaps, when He says, Arise, My darling, My beautiful one, come with Me” (Song Of Songs 2:10 NIV), it could be as simple as stilling yourself and your thoughts long enough to find Him within yourself and from that place you can start this beautiful journey of being led and taught by His Spirit. From this place you have the honor and pleasure of being able to intimately and continuously commune and converse with Him or to simply just be with Him.

I am a woman who fervently believes in having a secret place such as a prayer room or prayer closet where you can meet with The Lord daily. I’ve encountered and experienced Papa God in my own secret place in ways that I can’t even begin to describe to you, so I can tell you from personal experience that I know that The Lord will honor us seeking Him from those places.  However, I don’t think that it’s the space or rooms in the physical places that we create to meet with Him that mean the most to Him. I believe that it’s the room and the atmosphere that we prepare and set within our hearts—that sacred space that we create within ourselves as His temples that truly capture His heart.

That place on the inside of us is where He dwells waiting for us to still and silence everything else to meet Him there. That place is where our relationship with Him begins and is perpetually deepened. That place is sacred and it’s where we will always connect with and to Him in the deepest and most intimate of ways. It is there that He will reveal His heart to us and teach us the great and unsearchable things that we do not know (Jeremiah 33:3 NIV).

Today’s focal passage of Scripture says, “Here’s the one thing I crave from God, the one thing I seek above all else: I want the privilege of living with Him every moment in His house, finding the sweet loveliness of His face; filled with awe, delighting in His glory and grace. I want to live my life so close to Him that He takes pleasure in my every prayer. In His shelter in the day of trouble, that’s where you’ll find me, for He hides me there in His holiness. He has smuggled me into His secret place where I’m kept safe and secure.”

We have this timeless invitation from The Lord to live in the truth of those verses every single day. Meaning there is never a moment where we can’t enter in and be with Him. It is my prayer that if you are reading this today, that you would accept Papa’s invitation daily and diligently seek His face from that sacred place within yourself where He is patiently waiting and longing to meet and be with you.

Abba, I just want to start by saying that we are deeply in love with You and eternally grateful for the beautiful gift of the veil being torn allowing us complete access to intimately be and commune with You. You are so loving and so merciful— truly a good, good Father and perfect in all of Your ways. We are lovers of Your Holy Presence and we surrender our will to Yours with the sweetest longing in our hearts and souls to have more of You every single second of our lives. Lord, we make a covenant with You to seek You daily from the secret and sacred place on the inside of us where You patiently await to meet with us each day. Papa, we trust You, we honor You, and we thank You for the precious and powerful treasure that is Your Holy Spirit in which You have so graciously gifted and entrusted to us. In the name of Jesus Christ, Your precious Son and our Lord and Savior— I pray, Amen and so be it.

“He who dwells in the secret place of The Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of The Almighty [Whose power no foe can withstand].” – (Psalm 91:1 AMPC)

May Our Prayers Be A Sweet Aroma Before THE LORD

ASKS

(Psalm 141:2 NIRV- May my prayer come to You like the sweet smell of incense. When I lift up my hands in prayer, may it be like the evening sacrifice.)

The NLV translation of today’s focal verse says, “May my prayer be like special perfume before You. May the lifting up of my hands be like the evening gift given on the altar in worship.

In mulling over the words of today’s focal verse, they began to deeply resonate within my spirit and have been permanently tattooed upon the walls of my heart since yesterday morning. I love intimacy with The Lord— the joy and peace that comes in sweetly communing with Him.

It is my heart’s prayer that my words would always be a sweet-smelling fragrance of praise and honor before Him and that the lifting of my hands would be a sacred gift to Him on the altar before His Holy Presence in heartfelt worship.

I have my very own love language with God and every single morning as I enter His Presence, I believe that my words leave a lasting impression upon His heart in the same manner that His Words are so deeply ingrained upon mine.

If I could leave you guys with one thing to reflect upon today, it would be this: religion means nothing without relationship. With religion you get to know about Him, but with relationship, you get to know Him. It’s in knowing Him that our prayers become impressed upon His heart— that they become like a fine orchestra of music to His ears and a sweet aroma wafting before His Holy and perfect Presence.

And so, my prayer for you guys this morning is that you would seek Him in the secret place for yourself and that you would not be content in just hearing about Him, but that you would long for an intimate relationship with Him; The One Who has not only given us life, but perpetually sustains our lives through His Life within us.

Abba, we enter Your Presence with one desire this morning, and that is, with each second that passes by— our souls yearn to know and experience You in a deeper way. Father, we give You not just our hearts, but our entire lives. With every fiber of our being, we long for more of You. With every beat of our hearts, I pray that it be a sweet perfume that is forever arising before You and all of heaven. And with every breath we take, may it be a sacred gift of endless and fervent worship that lies upon the altar for You and You alone. Our heart’s desire is to forever intimately commune with You. We love You and we treasure each and every moment in Your Presence.  In the name of Jesus Christ, Your precious Son, and our Lord and Savior— I pray, Amen and so be it.

“True prayer is neither a mere mental exercise nor a vocal performance. It is far deeper than that – it is spiritual transaction with The Creator of Heaven and Earth.” ~ Charles Spurgeon

Knowing GOD As FATHER

ASKS

(James 1:17-18 NIV- Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from The Father of the heavenly lights, Who does not change like shifting shadows. He chose to give us birth through The Word of Truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all He created.)

Most of us know and believe in The Lord as Creator, which He is and there is none other. This morning, however, I want to talk to you guys about knowing Him intimately as our loving, good Father, Who has chosen us as His own. (Jeremiah 1:5 AMP- Before I formed you in the womb I knew you and approved of you as My chosen instrument. And before you were born I consecrated you to Myself as My own…)

One of my favorite songs is “Good, Good Father” and every morning as I enter The Lord’s Presence, it’s one of the songs that I sing to Him because I want Him to know from the depths of my being what a good Father He has been to me.

The beginning of the songs says, “Oh, I’ve heard a thousand stories of what they think You’re like. But, I’ve heard the tender whisper of love in the dead of night. And You tell me that You’re pleased and that I’m never alone. … You’re a good, good Father. It’s Who You are. And I’m loved by You. It’s who I am.”.

As I was mediating on today’s focal passage, I was reminded of those precious lyrics from that song. … Every good and perfect gift comes from The Lord because it’s His nature to be a good Father to us. He, Himself, is Love. So, to know that we’re loved by Him is so much more than just a description of how He feels about us. Truly knowing in our hearts that we’re loved by Him, is to know that being loved by The Father is in fact Him offering us an extension of Himself— His very Life, in which there is no greater gift.

Beloved, accept and embrace The Life that The Father offers. He is the endless supply of everything good and perfect; the very source in which you draw your next life-giving breath.

Before I pray for you guys today, I just want you to know and truly take to heart that you don’t have to just listen to the stories of what others think our Heavenly Father is like. You can know Him— like truly and intimately know Him for yourself. You can experience Him, hear His voice, see as He sees. He will show you the great and unsearchable things. He’ll make His Presence known to you in ways that you’ve never even dreamed of.

If I could leave you guys with one thing that will change your life for the very best, it would simply be— seek Him. I can promise you that as you draw near to Him, He will draw near to you. There is nothing in this entire world that compares to knowing Him.

Abba, I come before You this morning asking that You would continually draw our hearts unto Yours. Father, I pray that the deep in You would unceasingly call out to the deep in us that we may know, encounter, and experience You in ways we never imagined possible. I pray that Your Holy Spirit would flood us; heart and soul to overflow that even the ones we love may be engulfed by all that is You. My deepest cry for every heart reading this is that they would come to know You as the loving, good Father that You are. Lord, let nothing hinder us as we seek to know You more. You’re a good, good Father. We love You and we long for more and more of The Life that is Your Presence. In the name of Jesus Christ, Your precious Son, and our Lord and Savior— I pray, Amen and so be it.

When I was a little child, my parents taught me by example to pray. I began with a picture in my mind of Heavenly Father being far away. As I have matured, my experience with prayer has changed. The picture in my mind has become one of a Heavenly Father Who is close by, Who is bathed in a bright light, and Who knows me perfectly.” ~ Henry B. Eyring

You Are Heaven’s Poetry

ASKS

Dear Hearts, I welcome you all to week 6 of the “Fridays Are For Faith ‘n Friends” blog hop! I’m honored to have you guys join me again today and I pray that you’ll join me here every Friday for prayer, love, and encouragement. As I explained in week 1, I may not be writing a message every Friday, but I will have a focal passage of Scripture in which I will be meditating on as I write a prayer to encourage your hearts. I will also be available to pray with or for you throughout the day and you can contact me for prayer anytime by clicking here. Also, each week I will share with you my favorite post from the previous week’s link-up.  … So, link-up, be encouraged, and spread the love!

(Ephesians 2:10 VOICE- For we are the product of His hand, heaven’s poetry etched on lives, created in The Anointed, Jesus, to accomplish the good works God arranged long ago.)

This morning as I was meditating on today’s focal verse, I just felt in my spirit that I was supposed to remind you guys that your very being is heaven’s poetry. Meaning— your life is the beautiful artistry of God, Himself. Beloved, please take a moment to allow your heart and mind to be fully immersed in the beauty and power that lies within this truth. You are God’s best and His most beautiful and valued creation.

Abba, I come to You this morning on behalf of every being reading this and I ask that You would establish in their hearts and spirits how much You love and cherish them. Help them to see the incomparable value that You have placed over their lives as Your treasured sons and daughters. I ask that You would open their eyes and hearts to receive the holy plan of perfection that You have beautifully and intricately etched within the walls of their beating hearts. Lord, I pray that they would truly come to know You intimately that they may fully understand their worth and the phenomenal purpose in which You have created them for and called them to. Father, I ask that You would minister to their souls as only You can do. Abba, I love You and I thank You for Your extravagant love for us.  In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Your precious Son, and our Lord and Savior— I pray, Amen and so be it.

I love songs that express what I truly feel from the depths of my heart for The Lord, so the song below is another one of my faves to sing before Him in the mornings as I begin to enter His Presence to pray. The song says, “Your love is extravagant. Your friendship is intimate. I find I’m moving to the rhythms of Your grace. Your fragrance is intoxicating in our secret place.”.  Beautiful lyrics to sing to our beautiful God.

Happy Friday! I love you guys!

Sharing THE BREAD OF LIFE + (“Fulfilled” Giveaway!)

Before I share with you guys what God has put on my heart for you today, I first want to share with you this little lovely treat, so get excited! Yayyy! Haha! 😉

I don’t usually do book reviews or book giveaways, because when I started “AS-KS”, God gave me a specific vision and purpose for it. However, today I am honored to give away a signed copy of an incredible book written by an amazing woman of God and my sweet friend, Danise Jurado!

Danise is a Women’s Pastor and the Transitions Program Director at the LA Dream Center in Los Angeles, CA. She has a beautiful heart for God and for people. She is truly a gift from The Lord and just an awesome being. The name of her new book is “Fulfilled: Learning To Live The Life God Promised” and I can tell you that this is a book that you’ll want to read and be glad that you did.

Within “Fulfilled” Danise shares The Word of God, her heart, her personal experiences, and helpful and powerful practical tools and tips for life in such a way that it not only captures your attention, but your heart as well. Her words have paved a highway that will lead you to The Father’s heart and to His promises for your life.

My favorite quote from “Fulfilled” is actually from the last chapter of the book where Danise writes and I quote, “God sees the seed of promise He has placed within us. It has been designed perfectly by Him to come to full fruition.”. What a powerful truth!

I really love Danise’s heart, because she loves people so much that 50% of the proceeds from “Fulfilled” will be donated to the LA Dream Center which means that her words will literally be changing lives for the better. To God be the glory!

You can purchase “Fulfilled” on Amazon. The Ebook version/Kindle edition is available right now and the paperback/print copy will be released on Tuesday (8/25/15), but you can pre-order now! “Sharing THE BREAD OF LIFE”

ASKS

(John 6:32-35 GNT- “I Am telling you the truth,” Jesus said. “What Moses gave you was not The Bread from heaven; it is My Father Who gives you The Real Bread from heaven. For The Bread that God gives is He Who comes down from heaven and gives Life to the world.” “Sir,” they asked Him, “give us This Bread always.” “I Am The Bread Of Life,” Jesus told them. “Those who come to Me will never be hungry; those who believe in Me will never be thirsty.)

In my last post, I shared with you guys how God has been continually taking me into deeper levels of intimacy in Him and how He has been revealing Himself to me in just the most incredible ways over the last few months, in which a couple of those ways have been through dreams and visions.

Well, this morning He spoke to me through a dream and I pray that I can find the right words to articulate and describe the encounter to you guys on the same level and magnitude that I experienced it.

The Lord called me to Him and when I entered His Presence, I was standing on what seemed like a large white cloud. There was no one there except for He and I. It was almost as if He had met me in a sacred place that was somewhere between heaven and earth. It wasn’t earth because the atmosphere was boundless and empty and all I saw was light all around me. Yet, somehow I knew that it wasn’t heaven either.

Though I didn’t physically see The Lord in front of me, I strongly felt His Presence with me. As I took a few steps forward, there before me was a large, rectangular shaped, wooden table that stood much taller than I was and it expanded as far as I could see both left and right. The table was completely filled with bread. The bread wasn’t in pieces, but instead it was just one large loaf and just like the table, it expanded as far as I could see in both directions. Right above the table was a wooden shelf that just existed in mid-air and on the shelf was a plaque that had the words “Bread Of Life” engraved on it in gold.

After reading the words on the plaque, I heard the voice of The Lord. He spoke to me and said, “In this Bread there is Spirit and Life. It is yours. I have freely given you an endless supply. Share It with My people.”.

When I woke up from the dream, I was a bit frustrated with myself because I knew that The Lord had said more to me than that, but I couldn’t remember it all. So, as I started to write down in my prayer journal what I did remember, He spoke those same words to me again and I knew in my heart that I had remembered what He wanted me to or what was most important to His heart for such a time as this.

After I finished journaling, several passages of Scripture came to mind.

(John 6:63 NKJV- It is The Spirit Who gives Life; the flesh profits nothing. The Words that I speak to you are Spirit, and They are Life.)

(John 14:6 NIV- Jesus answered, “I Am The Way and The Truth and The Life. No one comes to The Father except through Me.)

(Matthew 4:4 NIV- Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every Word that comes from the mouth of God.’”)

(Luke 22:19 NLV- Then Jesus took bread and gave thanks and broke it in pieces. He gave it to them, saying, “This is My body which is given for you. Do this to remember Me.”)

(John 1:1-4 NOG- In the beginning The Word already existed. The Word was with God, and The Word was God. He was already with God in the beginning. Everything came into existence through Him. Not one thing that exists was made without Him. He was The Source of Life, and that Life was The Light for humanity.)

You see, The Bread that was before me on that table in my dream was symbolic of The Word of God and The Word of God is in fact— Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. So when God spoke to me and said, “In this Bread there is Spirit and Life. It is yours. I have freely given you an endless supply. Share It with My people.”, what He was really saying is, “I have freely given you My Son and through My Word His Spirit belongs to you, lives within you, and rests upon you. And in His Spirit there is Life. Share that Life with My people.”.

I believe sharing that Life with you means that yes, I share His Word with you. But, I also believe that it goes far beyond just feeding you Scripture. I believe it means that my life should reflect The Holy Spirit of Christ living within me in such a way that when you see me, you should first see Him. I believe means that I must love as He loves and arise to that which He has called in such a way that His glory becomes evident to every beating heart that I have the pleasure of encountering.

Jesus said that His Words are Spirit and Life and my prayer is that I would honor Him and live my life in such a way that my words, like His, would also be Spirit and Life; loving, comforting, encouraging, empowering, and soothing to the soul. I’ve said this many times before, and I am saying it again because I mean it with my whole heart and soul— everything that we need or long for is found in Him. He is the key that unlocks the door to The Life that we were purposed for; The Life that sustains us. Where our hearts hunger and thirst, He is The Bread Of Life and The Living Water that fills, quenches, and satisfies. The fulfilled life that we all seek and desire is as simple as making the choice to partake of The Bread Of Life that is Him.

Abba, I come before You this morning asking and praying that the words that You speak through me would truly be Spirit and Life to the heart and soul of every person reading this. May every word that I speak forth guide their hearts into Your Holy Presence. And in Your Presence may they realize, understand, and truly embrace their worth in You that they may know how precious they are in Your sight. Lord, today and everyday forth, I pray that Your perfect and everlasting love would infiltrate their beings. I pray that Your purpose for their lives would blossom, manifest, and come to fruition that they may thrive above and beyond their greatest expectations. Abba, let Your glory shine and rest upon them. I wholeheartedly praise You for their lives. In the name of Jesus Christ, Your precious Son, and our Lord and Savior— I pray, Amen and so be it.

The Power Held Within Our Written Words

ASKS

(Habakkuk 2:2 CEV- Then The Lord told me: “I will give you My message in the form of a vision. Write it clearly enough to be read at a glance.)

As a Writer, today’s focal verse is very dear to me and I truly take it to heart. I believe that just as the power of Life or death lie within the words we speak, that same power is held within the words we write. (Proverbs 18:21 NCV- What you say can mean Life or death. Those who speak with care will be rewarded.)

I journal my prayers every morning and I’ve been doing it for a very long time because there is a sense of freedom for me in knowing that God not only knows the desires of my heart, but that He sees them as well. To me being able to converse with Him through writing is symbolic of that fact that what I’ve written; my dreams, my hopes, my gifts, my goals, my concerns, my worries, my fears are ever before His Holy Presence and I can trust Him to divinely intervene and take care of all of the things that are near and dear to my heart.

Just to show you how awesome God is, yesterday, I attended a women’s conference at my friend Ellie’s church and in the particular group that I was in, the very first session we had was a class where we were journaling our prayers and Habakkuk 2:2 was the focal point of Scripture. My heart just smiled because even before she told us to start journaling, internally God had already given me a vision and my pen was on fire the entire class. I was still writing even as the class was ending.

God values writing. The Bible being a Life-giving token of that truth. … He told us in Habakkuk 2:2 that He would give us His message in the form of a vision and for us to write it down, but I also want to bring to your remembrance that writing was so important to Him that He took the time to write down His vision for us as well. (Exodus 31:18 NLT- When The Lord finished speaking with Moses on Mount Sinai, He gave Him the two stone tablets inscribed with the terms of the covenant, written by the finger of God.)

I believe the reason God said for us to write down the vision He gives us is because there is Life in being able to not just envision, but physically see our dreams and all of the incredible things that He has ordained for our lives right there in front of us. Seeing gives us hope and hope radiantly shines light on the purpose for the very beat of our hearts. Meaning what we see has the power to shed light and bring Life to who we truly are and the things we live for. (Matthew 6:22-23 VOICE- The eye is the lamp of the body. You draw light into your body through your eyes, and light shines out to the world through your eyes. So if your eye is well and shows you what is true, then your whole body will be filled with light. But if your eye is clouded or evil, then your body will be filled with evil and dark clouds. And the darkness that takes over the body of a child of God who has gone astray—that is the deepest, darkest darkness there is.)

I really want to encourage you guys to start journaling your prayers because yes, God values writing, but He values that intimate time with you even more. And it takes us a lot longer to write our prayers down than it does to simply speak them forth. So, just think, the more you write the more time you get to draw near to His heart and simply rest in The Presence of our Savior.

There’s one other thing that I’d like to share with you guys about yesterday’s conference. In all honesty, the entire day was amazing. I loved every minute of it, but this in particular brought great joy to soul.

As we were all gathered together eating lunch, they had a table set up and filled with all of these beautiful gifts that they were giving away. The table had everything; jewelry, scented lotions and soaps, just all of the things that women love. So, if your name was chosen, you got to go up to the table to a choose whatever gift you wanted. Well, because God loves me like that 😉 , my name was chosen and I got to pick out a gift. And out of all of the lovely things laying there before me, my heart was drawn to this beautiful empty box.

Love Box

As soon as I saw it, I knew exactly what it’s purpose would be. The box was beautiful on the outside, but empty on the inside. That box represents each and every one of us before we surrender our lives to God and allow Him to fill us with His Presence, power, love, hope, peace, joy, and all of the greatness that is the essence and epitome of Who He is.

Just as God fills us with the beauty that is Him. I’m going to write down the desires of my heart and fill this box with my prayers and the beauty that is my dreams. I’m going to pray over it every single day and as God answers, I’ll open the box to remove the answered prayers and continue to seek Him for the unanswered ones. This box will hold not only my dreams, but every vision that God has planted in or spoken to my heart. And I will be faithfully seeking after Him until everything that He has promised me comes to fruition in my life. (Luke 1:45 NIV- Blessed is she who has believed that The Lord would fulfill His promises to her!)

If you are family, a friend, a loved one, someone I’ve prayed with, or someone that has reached out to me for prayer, I will put your name in my prayer box, because I love you and I want you to experience the goodness that is our God. (Deuteronomy 1:11 CEV- God has even promised to bless us a thousand times more, and I pray that He will.)

I want to encourage and challenge you to not only write down your prayers to lay before The Lord, but to use that intimate time with Him to truly revel and bask in His Presence. Prayer may not always change your circumstances, but it will change you. And I promise you that any change made in your life through intimacy with God, you will not regret because it doesn’t just change you for the better, but for His best.

Abba, I deeply seek You this morning on behalf of every person reading this and I ask and pray that You would instill within their hearts how much You value them and love every moment that they spend in Your Presence. Father, give them Your message in the form of a vision that they may write it clearly to be read at a glance and understand in their hearts the beauty of Your intended purpose. Lord, as their eyes set sight on that purpose, fill them with everlasting hope as You work in and through them in order to bring that vision and purpose to fruition in their lives. Lord, draw near to them. Holy Spirit, consume them. Lord, today and everyday, I pray that Your love, grace, peace, and strength would amply abound within their hearts and within their lives. In the name of Jesus Christ, Your precious Son, and our Lord and Savior— I pray, Amen and so be it.

Wear LOVE Everywhere You Go

ASKS

(Colossians 3:14 MSG- And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It’s your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it.)

The NLV of today’s focal verse says— And to all these things, you must add love. Love holds everything and everybody together and makes all these good things perfect.

The words from today’s focal verse truly moved me because in a world where it sometimes seems like everything is going wrong, The Word of God says, to truly love has the power and ability to make all things perfect.

The more I seek God and the more I’m praying, “Less of me and more of You, Lord”, the more He makes me aware of the hurt and brokenness of this world and in the hearts of the people around me. I often sense heartache within a person without even conversing with them and sometimes without even knowing them at all.

So yesterday morning when I saw an image that said, “Wear Love everywhere you go.”, it made me think of the following passage of Scripture— (1 John 4:7-12 NIV- Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God Is Love. This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and His love is made complete in us.).

God Is Love. So, to truly wear love means that we’ve surrendered our lives to The Lord; that we’re so deeply and intimately connected to Him that the people around us don’t see us, but instead, they see His heart, His Love, and His Life displayed in and through our lives.

“Love holds everything and everybody together and makes all these good things perfect” doesn’t simply refer to love as an emotion, but to the perfect and sovereign Presence of God, Himself. What it really means is that, it’s His Holy being that’s holding everyone and everything together and making all things perfect.

I long to love with the heart and love of our Savior and I may not be able to change the world, but I’ve made a covenant with God that I’m going to truly wear love everywhere I go and strive to always let my words be a reflection of His Presence in my life. And in doing that, I’m praying that every heart within “my world” will be changed.

Today, I just want to leave you with this notion: every time we to tell someone that we love them, we are essentially planting the seed of God’s Presence in their lives. So, the more you recognize hurt or brokenness within the heart of another, the more you should tell them that you love them. There is power in the words we speak forth. To simply tell someone that we love them gives us an opportunity to continually water that seed of God’s Presence that we’ve previously planted in their hearts which allows Him to fully blossom in their lives. And where The Presence of our God blooms— all things are made perfect.

Dear Heavenly Father, I enter Your Holy Presence this morning asking that You would instill within our hearts a greater understanding of what it truly means to love one another. Lord, give us the ability to recognize the hurt and brokeness in the hearts of the people around us and capacity to love them according to Your standard, not ours. Lord, today and everyday forth, help us to not only love with words, but through our actions and deeds as well. Abba, through the love that You’ve given us and through Your Presence in our lives, let our hearts beat with a love that honors Your heart. May we truly wear Your love everywhere we go. In the name of Jesus Christ, Your precious Son, and our Lord and Savior— I pray, Amen and so be it.

LORD, Not My Will, But YOUR Will Be Done

ASKS

(Number 14:17 NJKV- I pray, let the power of my Lord be great, just as You have spoken.)

My prayers at times have often mirrored the exact words of today’s focal verse because planted and deeply rooted in my heart is this beautiful and powerful truth— no word spoken forth by my Abba Father will ever fail. (Isaiah 55:11 NET- The Promise that I make does not return to Me, having accomplished nothing. No, It is realized as I desire and is fulfilled as I intend.) (Luke 1:37 NIV- For no Word from God will ever fail.)

I fully trust in His Word with my whole heart and soul. However, what today’s focal verse truly made me realize is, I often pray like that when my heart is consumed with worry and not when it’s filled with the faith and confidence in The Lord that it should be spoken forth in. It’s like I’m asking God to let His promises come to fruition by my will and in my timing instead of trusting Him to do it by His Will and in His timing.

And in reflecting upon that, I was reminded of these precious and Life-giving words from Christ … (Luke 12:27-28,31-32 VOICE- “Think about those beautiful wild lilies growing over there. They don’t work up a sweat toiling for needs or wants—they don’t worry about clothing. Yet the great King Solomon never had an outfit that was half as glorious as theirs! Look at the grass growing over there. One day it’s thriving in the fields. The next day it’s being used as fuel. If God takes such good care of such transient things, how much more you can depend on God to care for you, weak in faith as you are. Since you don’t need to worry—about security and safety, about food and clothing—then pursue God’s kingdom first and foremost, and these other things will come to you as well. My little flock, don’t be afraid. God is your Father, and your Father’s great joy is to give you His kingdom.”)

I know that The Word, Will, and timing of our Heavenly Father is flawless; complete and absolute perfection and I desire to know Him so intimately that I never ask for anything to be done by my own will. I desire to know Him so wholly and personally that like Jesus, I simply enter His Presence and say, “Abba Father, not by my will, but by Yours.”. (Luke 22:41-43 NIV- He withdrew about a stone’s throw beyond them, knelt down and prayed, “Father, if You are willing, take this cup from Me; yet not My Will, but Yours be done.”. An angel from heaven appeared to Him and strengthened Him.)

Jesus said that if we will just seek His kingdom and put Him first, then The Father would give and bestow upon us all things including the kingdom of heaven. What an incredibly beautiful promise for our hearts to embrace and behold. My heart’s greatest prayer for you is that your heart would never lose sight of that powerful, life-changing, Life-giving truth.

Abba Father, today and everyday, help us to seek you first. Help us to stay Christ-focused and Holy Spirit-guided that we would come to know you greater and trust you wholly and completely. Help us as mere human beings to understand Your profound wisdom that we would wholeheartedly know and believe that Your Will and Your timing is immaculate and flawless. Help to us never doubt You in any way, but to put our faith and hope in You always. In the name of Jesus Christ, Your precious Son, and our Lord and Savior— I pray, Amen and so be it.

Fighting The Battles Of Life With Joshua-like Faith

ASKS

(Joshua 10:12-14 CEV- The Lord was helping the Israelites defeat the Amorites that day. So about noon, Joshua prayed to The Lord loud enough for the Israelites to hear: “Our Lord, make the sun stop in the sky over Gibeon, and the moon stand still over Aijalon Valley.”. So the sun and the moon stopped and stood still until Israel defeated its enemies. This poem can be found in The Book of Jashar. The sun stood still and didn’t go down for about a whole day. Never before and never since has The Lord done anything like that for someone who prayed. The Lord was really fighting for Israel.)

As I read today’s focal passage it made me think about how much greater the quality of our lives could be if we all possessed that same unwavering faith in our Heavenly Father that Joshua had taken into battle with him that day. What would the reflection of our lives mirror if we never questioned or doubted The Lord’s Presence and power in our lives— but entered His Presence wholeheartedly trusting and believing that what ever we ask of Him in faith, He would liberally and graciously provide?

What astonished me about Joshua’s battle prayer is the manner in which he prayed. If you notice, he didn’t just ask The Lord to still the sun and provide the light that he needed to win the battle. His prayer was more along the lines of a faithful and declarative invocation. Meaning he didn’t ask. He simply spoke it forth in faith and trusted that The Lord would grant his request. To me, the incredible thing about that was— God did exactly that.

“The sun stood still and didn’t go down for about a whole day. Never before and never since has The Lord done anything like that for someone who prayed. The Lord was really fighting for Israel.” <— I was truly amazed by this and I contemplated why it is that God had never answered a prayer like that before and why it is that He hasn’t done it since. Could it be that it’s because we lack that Joshua-like faith? Could it be because when we enter God’s Presence it’s not with the kind of purposeful and tenacious faith needed to still the sun over our battles of life? Could it be because in our hearts we’ve already given up before the battle has even begun and we only enter The Lord’s Presence out of desperation and defeat and not with a true heart of faith and expectancy?

Today, I encourage you to let Joshua’s unfaltering faith be a reminder to you that when you enter The Presence of God and lay your concerns before Him, arise with a heart of expectancy knowing that our God is Jehovah Jireh and He will provide for those who believe in Him. (Mark 9:23 NKJV- Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”)

Just as The Lord honored the prayers of Joshua and fought for Israel, know that He can and will do the same in every single battle that you’re facing in your life. (Exodus 14:14 AMP- The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace and remain at rest.) Enter God’s Presence in faith and believe that He will answer your prayers because your faith allows Him to still the sun creating the light you need to conquer your battles and live a life of victory.

Will You Say “Yes” To HIS Call?

ASKS

(Psalm 51:17 NIV- My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart You, God, will not despise.)

As I read today’s focal verse, my heart began to beat with this sonorous and rhythmic sense of admiration, love, esteem, and gratitude for God. I instantly felt this deepened, euphoric, and renewed sense of affection for Him and His Presence in my life because resonating in my thoughts and dancing with beauty and grace in my heart and mind, were these words: “My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart You, God, will not despise.”. I was filled with complete and utter joy because sometimes that’s simply all I have to offer to Him.

By definition the word contrite means: penitent or filled with a sense of guilt and the desire for atonement. I think most of us may perceive today’s focal verse as a welcoming path that directs us to enter God’s Presence laying our sins, flaws, and brokenness before Him in return for His love, forgiveness, and grace. And I must say, I believe and utilize it in that aspect in my own life as well.

However, sometimes my heart beats with a sense of contrition that is not necessarily directly due to sin or my mistakes or my shortcomings. Sometimes, I feel the most penitent when I think about the cross and the incomparable sacrifice that Jesus made just for me to have life. He knew me and foresaw all of the mistakes that I would make and in Him being acutely aware of all of that, He still made the to choice to give His Life for me and to send His own Spirit to live within me; to love me unconditionally, to comfort me through my every hurt and heartache, to lead me to my greatness, and to give me a heart that deeply desires to carry on His legacy and purpose in a world that so desperately and vitally needs His Presence, but is so incognizant of it’s brokenness and despair.

I contemplate and wonder— how will I ever be able to repay Him for it all? I desperately long for His sense approval in my life because in my humanness and in spite of my fallibility He took and accepted me just as I was allowing me to find beauty and purpose within my imperfections. His precious and perfect Holy Spirit literally breathed Life into my existence.

How do you repay someone who has given their life for you?! That’s what I’ve pondered… But God spoke to my heart and said, “Don’t feel guilty about the sacrifice My Son made for you because He will forever live on; sitting on the throne beside Me in heaven and within you and my people on the earth. You long to know what you can do to repay such a gift, but repayment is not a requirement.”.

As I thought about what His words meant, this verse came to mind. (John 14:15 NIV- “If you love Me, keep My Commands.) The words that God had spoken to me and the verse that He placed upon my heart simply reminded me that it’s not a requirement, it’s a choice. We choose if we will love Him or not. We choose whether to follow His Will or our own. We make the choice whether we will honor Him with our lives or not.

I’ve said all of that to say this: my greatest and deepest prayer for you today is that you would choose Him, that you would make Christ the center of your life, and that the ears of your heart would always be keen to the small still whispers of the voice of His Holy Spirit breathing and speaking Life within you.

Will life always be sunshine, rainbows, smiles, and giggles? Absolutely not. But in those moments choose to seek Him first. (Psalm 27:8 NKJV- When You said, “Seek My face,” My heart said to You, “Your face, Lord, I will seek.”) I wholeheartedly know that a heart that sincerely loves and earnestly seeks The Lord and longs to do and honor His Will is a heart that is destined to be preeminently rewarded. (1 Corinthians 2:9 NLT- No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love Him.)

We serve a loving and faithful God. It’s not always about sacrifice sometimes it’s simply saying, “Yes” to His call. (Isaiah 6:8 NIV- Then I heard the voice of The Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”. And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”) So, I pray that when He calls, your answer will always be, “Yes, Lord! Here I am. Send me!”.
