The Beauty In God Using Me To Write A New Children’s Book Series

Ok guys, testimony time! Because everyone loves a good testimony, right?! Well, here you go…

When I was in my early 20’s, I wrote some manuscripts for a faith-based children’s book series. I thought about trying to get those books published, but just to be honest, I let fear hold me back. However, over the years it’s crossed my mind countless times to not try again, but to simply TRY to begin with and yet I never did.

Now, let’s fast forward several years. I’m now 36 and over the last couple of months, I really started to feel like The Lord was tugging on my heart to revisit publishing my children’s books. So, I started reading through my old manuscripts, but The Lord told me that we were about to do something new. New as in write something completely new.

To be honest, I didn’t feel like writing something new, but The Lord told me that there would be a grace to get it done. (Amongst all of the other things that I’m currently trying to accomplish.)

So, I sat with The Lord for two days, really didn’t talk to anyone, and things just started to flow. I wrote a whole new series that focuses on how to hear the voice of God for kids.

To make a long story a little shorter, I got the final revision from my Editor at the beginning of last month. The manuscript for the first book of the series has been finalized and is now in the illustration process.

In the Editor’s comments of my final edit, she wrote that it was an amazing children’s book and that I had a wonderful narration technique.

Listen… you guys I wish I could take the credit for her praise, but keep in mind that this was a series that was written in two days. It wasn’t even my idea. I didn’t even know what the topic was going to be when I sat down to start writing. It was God Who said that we were about to do something new. Key word being WE! I had to quiet myself in obedience, trust God for the grace to actually do it, and listen for Him to guide me in writing it.

The moral of this story is: NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE WITH GOD! (Luke 1:37)

So without further ado, “ABRAM SAYS…” is the introductory title for my book series, and the first book, “Abram Says… ‘God Talks to Me!’” will be released on 11/11/2021!

“Abram Says… ‘God Talks to Me!’” is about a little boy named Abram who is curious about if God really speaks to us and wants to know how he can hear the voice of God in the same way that his parents do.

This book would be great for parents who are looking for an organic way to engage or start an open dialogue with their young children about how they can hear God’s voice for themselves.

Below is a little sneak peek into the beginning of the book where Abram has started to ask his parents questions. This excerpt is also a reminder for parents/guardians to be mindful of their lingo and the words they use when giving explanations to their little ones because as you can see from the text he took what his parents said in a very literal way.

No worries though! As you can probably tell from the title of the book, they go into greater detail later in the book which provides him with a much greater understanding. Enjoy! 😊

In conclusion, I would just like to say that our creativity in any form is a beautiful expression of who God is in us and such a powerful way to build His kingdom and display His glory to the world around us. So, whatever your gift or talent is or whatever it is that you desire to share with the world, just do it! It doesn’t matter how young or old you are, just do it! Do it even if you’re afraid! Because guess what? God is with you and in you always!
