(John 14:12 NOG- “I can guarantee this truth: Those who believe in Me will do the things that I am doing. They will do even greater things because I Am going to The Father.”)
Today’s focal verse is one of my favorite verses because it reminds me of this incredibly powerful truth— the very moment that Jesus gave His Life and sent His Holy Spirit was the very moment that solidified God’s purpose for my life.
Christ choosing the cross for my salvation will never be in vain because in Him saving my life, I realize, understand, and appreciate that the greatest of who I am is visual only because His Spirit is alive in me.
To me, Jesus saying that for those of us who believe in Him, we will not only do the work that He has done, but that we will do even greater means that He possessed this phenomenal faith in us that He knew was so much greater than we would ever have the ability or capacity to conceptualize and see within ourselves.
Jesus knew that our faith in Him and in ourselves would sometimes waver. He knew that there would be times when on our own, we would simply fall short. He knew that times would arrive in our lives when we would need to be reminded of The Greater that lives within us. (John 14:25-26 MSG- I’m telling you these things while I’m still living with you. The Friend, The Holy Spirit Whom The Father will send at My request, will make everything plain to you. He will remind you of all the things I have told you.)
It is by us living and walking in the power, ability, provision, and authority of His Holy Spirit that allows us to blossom and thrive in the greater that He has gifted to us.
So today, I just want to remind you that you possess the power and Spirit of The Living God on the inside you. There is nothing that you can’t do because our God makes all things possible. Remember that before you were even born The Lord set you apart because He had a holy and perfect purpose for your life. Let nothing and no one rob you of that truth. (1 John 4:4 MSG- You come from God and belong to God. You have already won a big victory over those false teachers, for The Spirit in you is far stronger than anything in the world.)
Dear Heavenly Father, today and everyday forth, let Your Holy Spirit remind us of and guide us to our greater in You. Lord, help us to understand and embrace the perfect plan that you have purposed for our lives. Allow our hearts to always be cognizant of the beauty and value of the desires that you planted within us. Father, as we live our lives for You, help us to realize that the dreams that seem impossible for us to achieve on our own are the very dreams that are made possible with Your help and by Your power. Lord, in us knowing that, please give us the heart to seek You first and always. In the name of Jesus Christ, Your precious Son, and our Lord and Savior— I pray, Amen and so be it.
“O Holy Spirit, descend plentifully into my heart. Enlighten the dark corners of this neglected dwelling and scatter there Thy cheerful beams.” ~ Saint Augustine

I love this, sweet Tai, “The greatest of who I am is visual only because HIS SPIRIT is alive in me.” Beautiful! Your post reminded me of Colossians 1:27, “God has chosen to make known to them the glorious riches of that mystery. He has made it known among the Gentiles. And here is what it is. Christ is in you. He is your hope of glory.” – God’s Spirit, alive and active in us. If we could grasp that truth, it would be truly transformative!
Blessings and hugs,

A super post! I like the thought that Jesus’ death will never be lost on followers because we are “visual” by way of His image in us. Thank you for that thought…

Yes, we can do anything that GOD CALLS US TO. But if God doesn’t call us to it, He won’t necessarily equip us for it. Philippians 4:19 is often interpreted as meaning that anything WE decide to do God will give us the strength. But when we read the surrounding verses we realize that isn’t what Paul is saying at all. It’s like making our own plans and asking God to bless us after the fact.
Good post. God bless.
